Lynne Hinton - Philosophy in Schools

Broadcast date Thursday 12th March 2009

Lynne Hinton

When Lynne first arrived at Buranda State School there were just 48 pupils. Now this thriving inner-city school is at capacity with 214 children and every year Lynne has to turn people away.

What she introduced to the school when she started 14 years ago was the teaching of philosophy. Now children in all classes learn philosophy, including the little ones, and there's plenty of evidence to suggest it benefits the children socially, emotionally - and academically.

Lynne has won multiple accolades for her innovative work at Buranda and educators from all over the world ask to visit. Lynne is also in high demand to speak overseas.
